Not everyone is here long enough to enjoy our longer rental options so we are now offering hourly rentals at two locations! Northeast Creek and Hadley Point Beach! Acadia Paddle is the only outfit that does hourly kayak rentals on the ocean on Mount Desert Island without a guide!

Hadley Point- This is a perfect way to experience the coast of Maine and Acadia National Park. You have a good chance of seeing seals, bald eagles, porpoise, and other sea birds. The waterway in front of the rental is extremely protected and has very little waves, very little wind, and no current which make for perfect paddling for all ages and skill levels.

From the rental location we recommend you paddle towards the Twinnies (two little islands) and then circumnavigate Thomas Island. It is about a mile paddle and you can get off and explore the islands as they are owned by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust. If you are looking for a longer paddle you can paddle to The Ovens, a geologic cave structure that can only be accessed by water, or paddle across to the mainland to Lamoine Beach.

Due to weather, town restrictions, and boat availability you need to call or email and make a booking before arriving at Hadley Point Beach. Even the day before, or the morning of, to confirm hours of operation and boat availability and to sign agreement and make payment is suffecient. If you wish to book further in advance you certainly can as well.

Northeast Creek- A beautiful and picturesque paddle into the heart of Mount Desert Island. You park on the side of the road and within 5 minutes of paddling you will not see a house, nor a sound other than that of nature. Deer, racoons, otters, bald eagles, and other water fowl are likely to be spotted. This creek has almost zero flow to it, is very protected from the wind, and is much warmer than an ocean voyage. In the fall it is a spectacular place to see fall foliage! It is easily more than a 2 hour paddle to the very end of the creek making it up to a half day paddle.

A rental agreement/waiver will need to be signed prior to rental and money is paid upfront, not on site. Prices/Rentals are per hour.
